Appalachian Regional Commission Gives $50,000 to Tuscarawas County Economic Development Corporation through Inspire Grant for Innovative Recovery to Work Project

[Tuscarawas County, Ohio] – The Tuscarawas County Economic Development Corporation (TCEDC), in partnership with Friends of the Homeless, Wellmore Centre, and Mission: Possible, is proud to announce the receipt of a $50,000 grant from the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) for the groundbreaking East Central Ohio Recovery to Work Project. This grant was officially awarded on September 11, 2023. Ohio Governor Mike DeWine celebrated it as part of a larger announcement regarding Federal Grant Awards to Support Ohioans in Recovery.

The East Central Ohio Recovery to Work Project is an initiative that reflects the collaborative spirit of our community. This project addresses the multifaceted challenges faced by individuals in recovery. It is designed to empower them with the skills and resources needed to secure meaningful employment and rebuild their lives.

John Kelly, Business Development Director for the TCEDC, worked to form the team that applied for this grant. He highlighted the significance of the East Central Ohio Recovery to Work Project, stating,

"This project exemplifies our commitment to supporting residents on their journey to recovery and self-sufficiency. We are thrilled to see the Appalachian Regional Commission recognize its value and potential impact."

The $50,000 grant from ARC will play a pivotal role in the success of this initiative. These funds will be used to create a plan to build an ecosystem to support individuals in recovery to find sustainable employment opportunities. The collaborative effort between TCEDC, Friends of the Homeless, Wellmore Centre, and Mission: Possible ensures that participants receive holistic support toward long-term recovery and stability.

Through the East Central Ohio Recovery to Work Project, TCEDC and its partners are committed to breaking down barriers to employment, offering hope, and fostering a sense of purpose among individuals in recovery. This project embodies the resilience and community support that defines Tuscarawas County.
